A festival to celebrate all things cider!
We are extremely disappointed to announce that due to the recent change to the Red traffic light level, plus ongoing uncertainty and risks associated with the Omicron variant of Covid-19, the NZ Cider Festival organising committee have made the difficult decision
to cancel the 2021 NZ Cider Festival.
Thank you for your patience whilst we looked at many different options to try and move forward with the Hawkes Bay event, but whilst New Zealand may move into an orange or green status sooner and allow larger gatherings, we cannot predict when this will happen.
We are devastated by this news and understand that many of you will have had travel plans and arrangements locked in, after already postponing this event once we are saddened to have no choice but to cancel.
Thank you for your support and understanding during this difficult time for the Cider Festival team, plus the wider industry this effects – our wonderful Cider Producers and the Cider industry, food vendors, suppliers, sponsors and you, our Festival attendees.
So, what happens next?
As was always the long-term plan for the NZ Cider Festival, we will now start planning for the 2022 Festival which will be held in Nelson in November 2022, the specific date will be confirmed very soon. Keep an eye on our social pages & website.
From there, we will then plan to be back in Hawkes Bay in November 2023.

Ngā mihi and thank you again from the NZ Cider Festival team, we appreciate you all and hope you can join us for a fantastic day filled with the best of NZ Cider in Nelson in November!
Music & Entertainment
Our festival is not just about cider! A selection of great entertainment will form the framework for a family day out, including excellent music, educational talks, tastings, and the popular PlanIt Events entertainment area.
The New Zealand Cider Festival creates a relaxed environment that is kid-friendly. Back by popular demand, a range of children’s entertainment will be provided to ensure kids are well entertained as you soak up the atmosphere of the day.
The event continues to work towards zero waste by ensuring food and drinks are supplied in re-usable or recyclable/ compostable containers, including the festival’s souvenir sponsored glass.
