Why Nelson?
A high percentage of the country’s Cider is produced in Nelson and we have a rich heritage relating to the Cider industry. Essentially Redwood Cellars (1947) and Rochdale Cider Factory (started 1930s) (McCashins) are the two longest established Cider producers in the region. With a great climate for growing apples and plentiful apple orchards, Nelson was the perfect location for Cideries.
